The Department of Nutrition at Raniganj Girls’ College was established in 2016-2017with the introduction of the Nutrition General Course. With the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), the Major and Minor courses in Nutrition were introduced in 2023-2024, following the curriculum prescribed by Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol. Nutrition is an important interdisciplinary branch of Biological Science and has significant relevance to Health and Medical Sciences. It plays a vital role in promoting healthy lifestyles, preventing nutrition-related disorders, improving quality of life, and addressing the problem of malnutrition. The Department therefore aims to provide students with sound theoretical knowledge, practical skills, scientific awareness, and a sense of social responsibility. The department seeks to develop academically competent and socially responsible nutrition graduates who can contribute meaningfully to improving nutritional awareness and health practices in society.
